Main purpose of the role:
The Production Manager will assist and report directly to the Factory Manager, ensuring efficient and effective production operations within the paper bag manufacturing facility. The role involves overseeing daily production activities, maintaining quality standards, optimising processes, and managing a production team to meet company objectives.
Specific Role Responsibilities:
As a Production / Operation Manager,
1. Production Planning and Management:
o Collaborate with the Factory Manager to develop and execute monthly production plans.
o Monitor daily production activities to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery of orders.
o Manage production schedules to minimize work-in-progress (WIP) and implement just-in-time techniques.
2. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
o Ensure production quality aligns with customer expectations and company standards.
o Maintain compliance with industry regulations and certifications (e.g., BRC, ISO).
o Investigate and resolve quality issues with a target of less than 3 minor complaints per month.
3. Resource and Waste Management:
o Monitor and reduce production scrap levels to improve cost efficiency.
o Manage the consumption of materials such as paper, glue, and ink to prevent wastage.
o Oversee scrap handling, storage, and disposal to minimize resource loss.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
o Supervise, train, and motivate the production team to achieve performance goals.
o Ensure proper workforce allocation and adherence to safety protocols.
o Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
5. Equipment and Maintenance Oversight:
o Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure all machines are operational and in optimal condition.
o Address equipment issues promptly to prevent production downtime.
6. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
o Track and report on production metrics, including Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
o Provide regular updates to the Factory Manager on production progress and challenges.
7. Facility and Safety Management:
o Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of production areas in line with safety and operational standards.
o Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified risks.
