The position is that of cardiac sonographer at our Client Compay. Client is a specialist cardiology practice located in Kingston Jamaic and provide cardiology consultations, electrocardiography, echocardiography, stress echocardiography and nuclear cardiology from our headoffice in Kingston as well as at several satellite locations islandwide with a team of cardiologists, nurses and technicians but are now seeking to engage a full time cardiac sonographer.Job title : echocardiographer (cardiac sonographer) Job details :He will be responsible for performing echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, stress ECGs, ECGs as well as Holter monitors and Ambulatory blood pressure monitor hookups daily. The holters and ambulatory blood pressure hook-up duties will be shared with out cardiac nurses while the echo and stress echo duties will be performed exclusively by the cardiac sonographer. Echoes should be performed in accordance with guidelines from the American Society of Echocardiograpohy and the European Society of Cardiology. The sonographer will report to and be supervised by the cardiologist. Echoes and measurements are performed using a Mindray M7 ultrasound unit and are transferred at the end of the day to a centralized computer server for storage and archiving. Thereafter the sonographer will be expected to log in to the server (can be done either from the office or from home) and generate a preliminary report using a standard template. This preliminary report will be reviewed, edited and signed by the cardiologist before dispatch to the referring physician. Work hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm with an hour for lunch. Workdays are Monday to Friday. Additionally, on some days throughout the month, the sonographer will be required to perform echocardiograms at several satellite locations across the island. These are typically other physician offices which have contracted us to perform echocardiography. on their patients. The sonographer will be required to travel to these locations and to perform echoes there. On such days, all transportation and food costs will be covered by the company . The sonographer should also be prepared to perform echocardiograms on hospitalized patients from time to time. The typical number of patients varies but the sonographer should be able to scan 8 - 15 patients per day with numbers as high as 30 per day at some satellite locations. Echoes are generally done with minimal supervision. However, stress echoes and stress tests are always done under the cardiologist's direct presence and supervision. Sonographer should be CPR certified.
